Anti-Slip Tape for Boats, Docks & Marine
Anti-Slip Tape for Boats, Docks & Marine Applications
Marine environments punish every material choice: constant wet-dry cycles, UV exposure, salt spray, fuel and oil residue, and heavy foot traffic in bare feet or soft boat shoes. iFloortape's Resilient anti-slip tape family delivers waterproof, barefoot-safe grip with a non-abrasive rubbery embossed surface built to survive marine conditions without the harsh feel that damages skin and clothing.
Built for marine conditions
Traditional grit-based anti-slip tapes work on commercial vessels but are aggressive against bare feet and swimwear on recreational boats. Coarse Resilient tape solves that with a non-abrasive orange-peel embossed surface that grips wet decks without cutting into skin.
- Fully waterproof — submersible after adhesive cure; withstands sustained saltwater exposure
- Non-abrasive — safe for bare feet, swimsuits, and boat shoes
- Chemical resistant — PVC construction resists diesel, gasoline, saltwater, and typical marine cleaners
- Firm hold on marine substrates — bonds to fiberglass, painted metal, sealed wood, and non-skid gelcoat surfaces
- UV-stable colors — Black, Yellow, White, and Clear hold color well against sun exposure
- R10 slip-rated (Coarse Resilient variants) — NFSI High-Traction, 95 TRL dry / 60 TRL wet
Ideal marine application zones
Boat decks — bow, stern, and side decks
Open deck areas exposed to spray and rain need reliable grip without cutting into swimwear or scraping bare feet during weekend cruising. Resilient tape's rubbery orange-peel surface provides secure footing that stays comfortable when passengers move around the vessel.
Recommended: Resilient Anti-Slip Tape (HES_RES) in 4"–6" for continuous coverage · MK2 (HES_CR_MK2) for R10-certified performance.
Swim platforms and stern boarding areas
The swim platform is where wet feet transition from water to boat. This is the highest-slip-risk spot on any recreational vessel. Resilient tape gives climb-out safety without the sandpaper feel that would irritate wet skin.
Recommended: HES_RES in 4" or 6" strips across the entire platform · MK2 for higher-load charter vessels.
Ladder rungs, boarding steps, and cockpit approaches
Metal or fiberglass ladder rungs get impossibly slick when wet. Cut Resilient tape strips wrap around individual rungs for secure grip in bare feet.
Recommended: HES_RES in 1" or 2" widths.
Cockpit soles, engine hatches, and companionway steps
The cockpit sole and companionway steps are high-traffic zones where crew and passengers move between deck and interior spaces — often with wet feet. Coarse Resilient tape adds grip without visually disrupting the finish.
Recommended: MK2 in Clear (HES_CR2T) for a nearly-invisible finish on teak or gelcoat.
Docks, gangways, and marina walkways
Wooden and composite docks are treacherous when wet or covered in algae. Coarse Resilient tape delivers slip protection at boat slips, along gangways, and on floating dock walkways without the aggressive grit that would scrape bare feet or catch on lines.
Recommended: SafetyMark Coarse Resilient MK3 (HES_CR_MK3) — sharper peaks shed water and algae residue faster in outdoor dock use.
Recessed stair nosings on marine stairs
Some vessel and dock stair designs have milled recess channels in the front edge of each step for a flush anti-slip strip. The thick TCR variant fills these channels without a lip.
Recommended: TCR (HES_TCR) — 0.078" thick fills flush.
Waterslide runouts and pool-integrated wet decks (marine parks)
For commercial marine parks with waterslides and integrated wet zones, the LEAN variant's low profile prevents lifting on curved slide runouts and cleanroom-adjacent restroom transitions.
Recommended: LEAN (HES_LEAN).
Chemistry and durability
All Resilient family products are constructed from a plasticized flexible PVC film. That formulation is inherently resistant to:
- Saltwater and chlorinated water (submersible after cure)
- Diesel, gasoline, and 2-stroke oil residue
- Common marine cleaners (Simple Green, Star Brite, Boat Soap)
- UV degradation — colors hold well; expect standard PVC lifespan under sustained sun exposure
Not compatible with: aggressive solvents (acetone, MEK, strong petroleum distillates) or continuous exposure to temperatures above 150°F.
Installation notes for marine surfaces
- Surfaces must be clean, dry, and salt-free at time of application — fresh-water rinse and thorough drying is essential before installing
- For fiberglass and gelcoat: wipe with denatured alcohol before installation to remove wax residue that inhibits adhesion
- For teak: sand lightly, remove all oil residue with mineral spirits, then wipe with alcohol before installation
- Firm-press or roller-press to activate adhesive along full length
- Allow 48 hours cure before returning the vessel to saltwater
- Resilient tape cannot be applied underwater or on damp surfaces
