H3409 bolt down, anti-slip plates are an ideal solution for application in areas where Safety-Grip tape is not suitable i.e constantly wet, loose or uneven surfaces, such as external wooden surfaces like decking. Bolt down anti-slip plates are manufactured specifically for these purposes, with countersunk eyelets for easy application, and can be fitted using screws, nails or clips.

What are bolt-down anti-slip plates?
Bolt-down anti-slip plates are heavy-duty aluminum plates with a factory-applied Heskins Safety-Grip anti-slip coating on top and pre-drilled countersunk mounting holes so they can be screwed directly to a substrate. They deliver adhesive-tape-level grip in environments where tape can't survive: wet surfaces, oily concrete, uneven timber decking, forklift traffic, and outdoor exposure.
What sizes are available?
Three flat-plate sizes: 2.5" x 25" (63mm x 635mm) for narrow walkways and platform edges, 4.5" x 25" (115mm x 635mm) as the general-purpose size, and 4.5" x 40" (115mm x 1000mm) for full-length dock and ramp coverage. Multiple plates can be installed edge-to-edge for continuous walkways. All plates are 1.6mm (1/16") thick, low enough not to create a trip hazard.
What surface finishes are available?
The Safety-Grip coating comes in five grit types: Standard (medium abrasive, most common), Coarse (heavier abrasive for boots), X-Coarse (maximum grit for industrial boot traffic only), Aqua-Safe (wet-optimized with lower barefoot abrasion for pool decks and locker rooms), and Resilient (rubberized comfort surface). What colors do the plates come in?
Twelve color options including black, beige, fluorescent yellow (RAL1016), grey, safety yellow, black/yellow hazard, red/white hazard, orange, transparent, and the GID luminous glow finish. Fluorescent and hazard colors are recommended for high-visibility marking of edges, drop-offs, and forklift lanes.
How do I install them?
Each plate has 6–8 pre-drilled countersunk holes. Mark the hole positions on the substrate, pre-drill pilot holes to match your fastener, and screw the plate down with flat-head #10 or #12 stainless steel screws (wood) or Tapcon-style concrete screws with the appropriate masonry bit. No adhesive is required — the mechanical fastening is what makes these outperform tape in wet, oily, or uneven-substrate applications.
Are they suitable for forklift traffic?
Yes. The 1.6mm aluminum plate is rated for heavy industrial traffic including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. For continuous forklift lanes, prefer the Coarse or X-Coarse grit and countersink the screws slightly below flush so the fastener heads don't get pounded by tires. The plate life is 40+ months and the surface life is 24+ months under this kind of heavy load.
Where should I use these instead of anti-slip tape?
Choose bolt-down plates over tape when the substrate is: (1) constantly wet — dock ramps, wash bays, food processing floors; (2) oily — commercial kitchens, mechanic shops, factory floors; (3) porous or uneven — pressure-treated lumber, weathered concrete, expanded metal grating; (4) exposed to freeze-thaw — outdoor stairs, walkways, boat ramps. Anti-slip tape works well on clean, dry, smooth indoor surfaces but fails within months on the substrates above.
What's the difference between these and the L-shaped plates?
Flat bolt-down plates cover a walking surface only (a platform, ramp, or step tread). L-shaped bolt-down plates have a 90° bend that wraps the leading edge of a stair, protecting both the tread and the front lip. Use flat plates for walkways, ramps, and platforms; use L-shape for stair nosings where the lip is exposed to kicking and delamination.
