Product Description
Restore your SafetyMark Bolt Down Anti-Slip Plates without replacing the base plate. Precut Heskins Safety-Grip replacement pads bond directly to the aluminum base, extending plate service life and keeping your walkway, ramp, or stair-nosing installation OSHA and IBC compliant.
Sold in 3-Pack (Starter) and 8-Pack (Contractor) quantities — buy just enough for a targeted repair, or stock up for a full facility refresh.
15 Colors, Including Glow in the Dark
Match the pad to any SafetyMark plate color: Black, White, Grey, Beige, Brown, Clear, Yellow, Fluorescent Yellow, Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Glow in the Dark, Red/White Hazard, and Hazard Black/Yellow.
Black, Yellow, Hazard Black/Yellow, and Glow in the Dark are stocked in all sizes and pack quantities. All other colors are available on request — contact us and we will add the variant to your order.
Two Grit Formulas
- 60 Grit — Standard — Aluminum-oxide abrasive coating on PVC. Most applications. R13 slip rating (DIN 51130).
- 36 Grit — Coarse — Aggressive traction for wet ramps and oily industrial surfaces.
Four Precut Sizes
Every pad matches a SafetyMark Bolt Down Plate footprint — no measuring, no trimming.
- 2.5" × 25" — Fits narrow plate
- 4.5" × 25" — Fits standard plate
- 4.5" × 39" — Fits extended plate
- 6.4" × 25" — Fits L-Shape stair nosing plate (formed L-profile, single flat pad)
How It Works — Remove · Clean · Apply · Tamp
Step 1 · REMOVE the old pad
- Lift a corner with a plastic scraper or putty knife.
- Peel back at a low angle. On cold plates, warm the pad briefly with a heat gun to soften residual acrylic.
- Do not gouge or scratch the aluminum base plate.
- Discard the old pad; keep the base plate installed.
Step 2 · CLEAN the base plate
- Wipe with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) cleaner to remove adhesive residue, oils, and debris.
- Do not use methylated spirits, gasoline, or lighter fluid — they leave a greasy film that prevents bonding.
- Base plate temperature must be above 50°F. Dry fully before applying.
Step 3 · APPLY the new pad
- Peel back part of the release liner — do not pull the entire liner off at once.
- Align the pad edge with the plate. All pads are precut to size.
- Press the leading edge, then peel the liner as you smooth forward.
- Keep the pad flat and untensioned — do not stretch or pull taut.
Step 4 · TAMP for full bond
- Roll the entire pad firmly with a decorating roller or rubber J-roller. Use even, firm pressure.
- Optional: apply a thin bead of edge-fix sealant along the perimeter for outdoor service.
- Walk-on immediate. Full adhesive bond at 48 hours.
Typical Applications
- Loading-dock ramp edges
- Industrial platform stair nosings (L-Shape pad required)
- Forklift ramps and transitions
- High-load walkway transitions
- Emergency egress paths (Glow in the Dark variant)

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to remove the base plate to replace the pad?
No. The pad bonds only to the top face of the aluminum plate. Leave the plate bolted to the deck or stair — just peel off the old pad, clean, and apply the replacement.
How do I know which pad size fits my plate?
Match the pad size to your existing SafetyMark Bolt Down Plate footprint. The 4.5" × 25" pad fits standard 4.5" × 25" plates, and the 6.4" × 25" pad fits the L-Shape stair-nosing plate. Each pad is precut — no trimming required.
What if I need a color that isn't in the drop-down?
All 15 SafetyMark colors are available. Only the four highest-demand colors (Black, Yellow, Hazard Black/Yellow, and Glow in the Dark) are stocked in the option grid. Contact us for any other color and we will add the variant to your order.
How long do the pads last?
Heskins rates the upper surface at 24+ months in normal service conditions (PSTC-9 test method). Replace sooner in extreme high-traffic, chemical-exposure, or heavy-equipment environments where visible wear appears.
Can I install the pads in cold weather?
The base plate surface must be above 50°F at time of application, and the ambient service range after cure is −22°F to +158°F. If you're working outdoors in winter, warm the plate first with a heat gun before removing the old pad and applying the new one.
What's the difference between the standard colors and Glow in the Dark?
All colors share the same aluminum-oxide abrasive grip surface and the same 1.14 dry / 0.98 wet coefficient of friction. The Glow in the Dark version has a photoluminescent layer that absorbs light and glows for hours in the dark — required for IBC-compliant emergency egress paths in commercial buildings.
Do I need special tools?
Minimal tooling: an IPA cleaner wipe, a decorating roller or rubber J-roller for tamping, and a plastic scraper if the old pad needs coaxing. That's it.
Are these safe for wet or oily environments?
Yes. The aluminum-oxide grip formula is designed for exactly those conditions — the R13 DIN 51130 rating is the highest slip-resistance category. Wet coefficient of friction is 0.98, well above the OSHA-recommended 0.5 minimum for walking surfaces.
