Frequently Asked Questions
What are these replacement pads for?
These pre-cut Heskins Safety-Grip pads replace the worn anti-slip surface on your existing bolt-down anti-slip plates. Rather than removing the entire aluminum plate and re-drilling fasteners, you peel and stick a fresh grip surface directly onto the cleaned plate. Restores full slip resistance and extends the aluminum plate's service life indefinitely.
Which plate sizes do they fit?
Four cutouts matching every SafetyMark plate footprint (Heskins H3409) sold: 2.5" x 25" (63mm x 635mm), 4.5" x 25" (115mm x 635mm), 4.5" x 40" (115mm x 1000mm), and 4.7" x 1.7" x 25" L-shape (120mm x 45mm x 635mm). The L-shape pad is scored so it folds around the 90° stair-nose bend of the L-plate.
Standard vs GID Photoluminescent — which do I need?
Standard is the aggressive black aluminum-oxide grit for general industrial, dock, ramp, and walkway service. GID (glow-in-the-dark) is a photoluminescent yellow-green that charges under ambient light and glows for hours during a power outage — required for emergency egress paths, marine gangways, low-light stair nosings, and evacuation routes. If your original plate was black safety-grip, order Standard; if it was luminous/glow, order GID.
How do I install a replacement pad?
Remove any loose debris from the old plate. Solvent-clean the aluminum surface (isopropyl alcohol or acetone) and let it dry fully. Peel the release liner from the pad, align it with the plate edges (the pad is pre-cut to match), and press firmly starting from one edge to avoid trapping air. Roll with a hand roller if available. Full cure of the adhesive takes 24 hours before heavy foot or forklift traffic.
Do I need to remove the plate to apply a pad?
No — that's the main advantage. Because the pad is pre-cut to the exact plate footprint, you apply it in place, without unbolting or removing the aluminum base plate. The fasteners stay in the substrate, and there's zero disturbance to the concrete or wood you originally mounted the plate to.
How long does a replacement pad last?
The pad uses the same 1mm aluminum-oxide-coated PVC construction as the original factory surface, so expect the same 24+ months of surface life under continuous heavy traffic (Heskins PSTC-9 test result). The base plate itself is rated for 40+ months, so a single aluminum plate typically supports two full pad cycles before replacement.
Will the pad work on non-SafetyMark plates?
The cutouts are sized for SafetyMark aluminum plates (manufactured by Heskins, H3409) as sold by iFloortape. They will also fit any third-party plate manufactured to the same nominal 63/115mm x 635mm/1000mm footprint. If your existing plate has a different footprint or has raised edges/rivets protruding above the top surface, contact iFloortape before ordering — a custom cut may be needed.
Are the pads OSHA/ADA compliant?
Yes. The Standard grit delivers a 0.98 wet coefficient of friction (ASTM D2047 methodology), exceeding OSHA 1910.22 walking-working surface requirements, ADA-compliant walkway slip-resistance targets, and NFSI High-Traction certification levels. GID pads meet those same friction standards plus photoluminescent output suitable for IMO A.752 and ISO 17398 emergency-egress marking.
