Product Description
Reflective DOT-C2 conspicuity tape is required for FMCSA regulations. Our DOT-C2 tape is produced in red/white reflective format, it has a self-adhesive base that adheres to any truck surface that is clean, dry and free from grease, simply remove the backing paper then apply firm pressure to stick in place. The adhesive is permanent and works on steel, aluminum, fiberglass etc. The product is durable and will provide years of use. Our tape works well not just on truck tractors but also vans, forklifts, trailers, agricultural equipment, buses, automobiles etc.
- Reflects the majority of light directly back at the source
- Increases visibility in low light or poor visibility situations
- Impact proof
- UV stable
Reflective conspicuity DOT-C2 tape with 7-year durability rating - meets current code for state and federal requirements. Glass beads laminated between layers of film form a non-exposed retro-reflective optical system. It is a non exposed, air cell, micro glass bead retro reflective technology. Conspicuity tape is used for trucks and trailers 80" in width and over 10,000 lbs in weight. Apply properly to comply with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations to ensure that large vehicles and trailers are seen properly, most particularly a night. Rolls are 150 Feet long.
The coefficient of retro-reflection for reflective material meets or surpasses the minimum coefficient of retro-reflection required by FMVSS 108. The measurements are made in agreement with ASTM E-810 "Standard test method for coefficient of retro-reflective sheeting" in terms of candlepower per square foot (cd/lux/ft2).

How do I tell when my reflective truck/conspicuity tape needs to be replaced? The regulations at 393.11 state that the retroreflective material needs to meet the requirements in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) number 108. The retroreflective tape applied to the vehicle must be in conformance with the American Standard for Testing and Materials (ASTM). These references discuss the photometric requirements. A light meter is used to check the lumenosity of the reflective DOT tape on the vehicle and verify that it meets the reflective quality requirements. Put simply, it is up to the driver to check the vehicle for missing, worn and damaged pieces of reflective tape. Look for worn spots and places where the tape is no longer reflecting very much light. You may want to specifically look at the tape on the flatbed rub rail to see if it is excessively scratched or scuffed. Check the reflective tape on the ICC bar for wear from dock lock contact. Does it seem damaged to the point you think it is no longer very effective? If so, a DOT officer might also notice the wear and use the defective reflectors as an excuse to pull you over. There is little information about how much wear or damage is considered acceptable. A bit of maintenance now can save on problems later. The best rule is to clean off dirt and replace damaged conspicuity tape as needed.
Federal requirements state that any truck trailer that is over 80' wide and exceeds 10,000 lbs in weight need to be marked with red and white alternating DOT C2 reflective tape that is 2 inches wide running along at LEAST 50% of the length and must cover the full width of the exposed rear area. DOT-C2 tape is strictly controlled and only approved material can carry the DOT-C2 tape spaced text (all of our materials do and are clearly marked as such). Our conspicuity tape exceeds the following requirements and regulations; FMVSS 108, NHTSA (49 CFR 571), FHWA (for retrofit) and FMCSA. The great thing about buying Reflective DOT tape from us is that we can provide you the exact type you need, we can provide expert advice and ensure that you meet the standards keeping you on the right side of Federal regulations.
Our reflective DOT-C2 tape meets the standard and is retro reflective visible in excess of 1000 feet, the flexible polymeric film contains cube corners (effectively micro prisms), these allow it to be mounted in any position or angle and reflect the light back at an angle that is visible. The upper surface is completely smooth and is UV stable. During the day the colors are a vivid contrast of alternating red and white, these blocks are both completely reflective.
As we work directly with the manufacturer of DOT-C2 conspicuity reflective tape we can request tape to be slit to different widths, we can also offer die cut shapes, kiss cuts etc.
